We’re delighted to partner with Bishop Gore School in Swansea to explore the transformative potential of AI in teaching and learning as part of their ‘School as a Learning Organisation’ initiative! This collaboration is already yielding exciting results, promising to reshape how their teachers approach planning, curriculum delivery, and creating engaging content.
Under the guidance of Digital Competence Framework (DCF) Coordinator, Faye Palmer, who also leads TeachMateAI’s product and community support across Wales, Bishop Gore has taken a strategic approach to integrating AI across its curriculum. Working closely with DCF Links – staff members who champion digital innovation from departments across the curriculum – the school has begun trialling TeachMateAI’s suite of tools.
The initial project aimed to alleviate teacher workload and enhance lesson delivery by introducing a range of AI-powered tools such as TeachMateAI’s ‘Lesson Planner’ and ‘Medium-Term Plan’ tool.
Teachers have reported that:
🤖 The tools have significantly streamlined administrative tasks, allowing them to focus more on their learners’ individual needs.
🤖 100% of staff involved stated that the tools helped to make their lessons more engaging and that the tools helped to reduce their workload.
🤖 The tools have saved them valuable time.
🤖 The tools have inspired new ways of creating engaging, interactive lessons across the curriculum.
In addition, DCF Links from Bishop Gore trialled one of our new tools for teachers in Wales, ‘Clic Cymreig’, which has been designed to generate a number of ideas and resources related to Wales based on a chosen topic. Ultimately, looking for relatable ways of instilling a sense of “Welshness” amongst learners in line with the Curriculum Cymreig.
Building on this success, the second project is currently focusing on leveraging AI to provide authentic experiences that align with the Curriculum for Wales 2022 (CFW22). TeachMateAI’s ‘Activity Ideas Generator’ and ‘Clic Cymreig’ tools are helping teachers design activities and experiences that reflect Wales’ unique cultural heritage while fostering creativity and critical thinking among learners.
Bishop Gore is also working closely with TeachMateAI to develop tools tailored to the specific needs of the Welsh Baccalaureate. Catrin Lewis, Head of the Welsh Baccalaureate at Bishop Gore School, has been instrumental in shaping these innovations. The bespoke tools will support teachers in delivering this unique qualification, providing resources and modelled examples to enrich the curriculum and meet its rigorous demands. This collaboration marks the first of its kind, with the tools set to launch early next year.
Mrs Helen Burgum, Headteacher at Bishop Gore School added “As a school, we are excited to be a part of this strategic approach to integrate AI across the curriculum. This whole-school approach allows time for reflection and staff feedback to ensure our approach is robust. It’s also great to see so many of our staff putting their expertise to good use and helping to shape the future of AI in education. We look forward to what’s to come next.”
Bishop Gore’s partnership with TeachMateAI exemplifies what’s possible when schools embrace digital innovation. By integrating AI thoughtfully and strategically, they are creating a dynamic learning environment that meets the needs of both teachers and learners. This collaboration not only sets a precedent for schools across Wales but also underscores the transformative power of technology in education.
