At Teachmate, we believe that building responsible, ethical AI for education means drawing on the insight of leading experts across the sector. As part of this commitment, we’re pleased to announce that we have established the Teachmate Advisory Group (TAG): a panel of highly-regarded specialists spanning education, strategy, technology and governance.

Meeting three times a year, the group will act as our trusted advisors, challenging and guiding us as we develop solutions that teachers can rely on to improve learning and reduce workload, whilst upholding the highest standards of safety, transparency and compliance.

With that said, we’re immensely proud to introduce our first member of the Advisory Group, Laura Knight.

About Laura Knight

Laura is the Founder and CEO of Sapio Ltd, specialising in AI, digital strategy and innovation for education. An international keynote speaker, author, and positive disruptor, Laura has worked with schools, universities, leadership associations, governments and edtech companies to embed ambitious, ethical, human-centric approaches to technology.

Her work spans digital pedagogy, holistic digital wellbeing, online safeguarding, leadership, governance and change management. She brings a strong focus on helping organisations navigate the opportunities and challenges of emerging technologies.

Beyond her role at Sapio, Laura serves on multiple advisory boards across the sector, including the ISC Digital Advisory Group and the Good Future Foundation. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and the RSA, and an active supporter of the work of UKAI.

A Message from Laura:

“I’m passionate about ensuring AI is used in ways that strengthen education: supporting teachers, raising standards, reducing workload, and building opportunities for more imagination and more joy in the classroom. The next few years will be key for schools harnessing these tools, and Teachmate has amazing potential to continue its growth as a trusted, teacher-led partner that sets the agenda with practical, relevant solutions. I’m excited to contribute to shaping that future and look forward to sparking bold, thought-provoking conversations that move the conversation about AI in education forward.”

Why Laura is Joining TAG

Laura brings deep expertise in digital strategy and ethical innovation. Her perspective across education and policy will be instrumental in ensuring Teachmate continues to deliver AI tools that are trusted, inclusive and teacher-led. We’re incredibly excited to welcome Laura as the first announced member of the Teachmate Advisory Group, and to also have her deliver a presentation at our first Teachmate Ambassador Workshop in October, where she will lead a session on ‘Defining an AI Strategy – being the lynchpin in your school’.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing the other members of TAG, who together with Laura, will help guide our work at Teachmate and keep us focused on what truly matters most: empowering teachers and improving outcomes for every student.
