This month we’re introducing Mel, our Operations Manager who joined the team a few months ago. If you’ve ever had any questions about your account or membership, it’s Mel you’ll have been speaking to!

Tell us a little about your career history and what you were doing before TeachMateAI…

My first job was at Nationwide Building Society. I left to have kids and then my neighbour started her own PR company and needed a hand. My daily commute was hopping over the garden fence!

We used to work in her study which was a lot of fun. She started with 3 clients and 2 staff and ended up with 17 clients and a team of 5. We worked exclusively with outdoor brands and had some fantastic clients like Osprey, Polartec and Primus. I worked on many trade shows, end-of-month reporting and client management.

Tell us about your role at TeachMateAI?

I am the Operations Manager at TeachMateAI – as part of my role here, I control the inbox and respond to any enquiries and help with the financial side of the website too. I enjoy problem-solving and generally helping our members. It’s a fantastic role that is super flexible, for myself and the TeachMateAI team and I love it.

What’s your favourite thing about working at TeachMateAI?

I work with some lovely people, and being part of such a successful and fast-growing start-up is fantastic.

Which is your favourite tool/tools?

I love the “Explain it with a song” tool – I think it’s so clever and a great way to help children (and adults!) to remember things.

If technology had no limits and you could design any AI tool, what would it be?

I’d love for us to build a tool that somehow keeps track of classroom supplies and alerts you when stock levels are low.

What are your favourite things to do when you’re not at work?

My husband and I love travelling. We’ve just come back from Mexico City, Guatemala and Costa Rica. Costa Rica was my favourite, it was stunning. We visited the volcanos and the scenery and animals were simply breathtaking. Our next adventure will take us to Norway in a few months time.
